2024 HR-V Interior and Technology Features

2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid Technology & Innovation

2024 Honda CR-V Performance and Safety Features

Riverview Honda knows that SUVs are popular vehicles, but only some have been as consistently popular as the Canadian-built Honda CR-V. This SUV has been a fixture in many driveways for years due to its quality build and excellent performance.

Performance (Engine Type, Horsepower, Torque)

The Honda CR-V has two powertrains available. The first is a gas-powered motor, and the second is a hybrid drivetrain.

The gas-powered motor is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder VTEC turbocharged motor making 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. This motor drives through a constantly variable transmission (CVT).

The hybrid drivetrain consists of a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle motor coupled with two electric motors. The combination makes 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque.

The CR-V is fitted with Real Time all-wheel-drive system that automatically monitors the performance at each wheel. If the system detects that there’s a loss of traction on any wheel, it will transfer the drive to the other wheels, ensuring that there’s always maximum traction on the road.

The CR-V has four drive modes to help drivers enjoy driving. These modes, Normal, Econ, Snow and Sport, allow the driver to select the mode best suited to the road conditions. Paired with Honda’s Drive-By-Wire system, which provides smooth acceleration, these modes enhance the driving experience and make acceleration easy and predictable.

The CR-V has always been known for fuel efficiency, and the 2024 model is no different. The gas-powered CR-V, in front-wheel-drive with Real Time all-wheel-drive, should give drivers 7.8 L/100km around town and 8.4 L/100km on the highway. Drivers can expect 6.0 L/100km around town and 6.4 L/100km on the highway from the hybrid drivetrain.

The CR-V is also fitted with Eco Assist technology that aids the driver in keeping an eye on how efficiently they’re driving. Combine this with selecting Econ drive mode, and you can squeeze every kilometre possible out of each litre of fuel.

Safety and Driver Assistance Features

The 2024 Honda CR-V comes equipped with several passive and active safety features.

The CR-V has a total of ten airbags. There are front and side curtain airbags. If the car rolls, the vehicle is fitted with roll-over sensors that will deploy the side curtain airbags. The side airbags are designed to reduce the possibility of injuries to children, smaller passengers, and passengers out of the seat.

The body of the CR-V is engineered in such a way as to disperse the energy of a frontal impact. Advanced Compatibility Engineering ensures that this energy is managed in a severe collision, reducing the possibility of the car’s bodywork intruding into the cabin and reducing the likelihood of injuries to the occupants.

Enhancing handling is managed by Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control. Stability assistance helps correct understeering and oversteering when cornering, and traction control helps manage the wheels' traction when driving on slippery surfaces. Another assistance aid is Hill Descent Control. This system will help control the descent speed when descending without the driver braking constantly.

Most active safety features are contained in the Honda Sensing technology.

  • Traffic Sign Assist is designed to recognize road signs and relay the information to the driver.
    • Traffic Jam Assist is a combination of technologies. Adaptive cruise control will ensure the car maintains a safe distance from the vehicle in front. It will accelerate when the traffic moves forward and brakes as the traffic slows. Lane Keeping Assist will ensure that the car does not stray toward the edges of the lane unless the indicator is turned on.

  • Forward Collision Warning is another combination of technologies. This system is designed to warn you audibly, visually and tactilely of a possible front-end collision. It detects pedestrians as well as other motor vehicles. If the speed of your car is too high, the system will automatically apply the brakes to prevent the collision from happening.

  • Lane Departure Warning will give audible and tactile alerts if your vehicle strays from its lane without proper indication.
  • Road Departure Mitigation will apply the brakes if the system senses the car is about to leave the road.
